NCYH Summer Camps
Director Skills 2016 & Older
This camp is designed to be a high-level, intense summer-long camp for kids who want to improve.
All sessions focus on both full-ice and half-ice individual skill drills implemented for the entire group. The Hockey Directors utilize state-of-the-art training aids that are used by the world's best players and teams to help develop game-like, situational skills and awareness. In the end, players will run different drills and get different perspectives from coaches who share the same philosophy -- if you work hard and focus on skill improvement, you'll get a lot better and have fun along the way. The feedback from the players, and their parents, has been universally outstanding, which is why this camp continues to grow each year.

FORWARD CAMP
These camps are for higher-level players who want to refine their skills and knowledge at their respective positions. Most drills during this camp will be new to the kids. The skills and concepts covered in this camp are much easier taught and learned away from a team setting and will allow each player to focus on his/her chosen position. The Forward camp will have a heavy focus on footwork, body position, puck retrievals, deception, offensive zone reads, shot selection, and finishing. Many of the drills have origins in junior, college, or professional practices, including a number of drills from NHL practices and training camps. All on-ice work will be run by Coach Gordon and Coach Ulanski (Forward)

U8 SUMMER CAMP
U8 LET'S PLAY HOCKEY CAMP - JUNE 13-15, 2025
NCYH is proud to offer an all-day, Under 8 Hockey Camp designed to develop basic hockey skills (skating, passing, shooting, puck handling) in a supportive, friendly environment. We will stress proper technique, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun! Coaches will use age-appropriate drills and activities to help players build confidence, improve coordination, and prepare them for growth in the game of hockey.
This camp is NOT for beginners. It is for well-behaved kids who have taken part in an Under 8 program, who can pay attention to Coaches and demonstrations, who are old enough to be active for the entire day at camp, and who can skate well without the help of another person or a balance aid. Instructors will help tie skates and buckle helmets but will not be aiding the kids in putting on their equipment, so if your child cannot put on his/her gear, a parent will need to be at the rink to help. This camp is open to kids who played Under 8 in the 2024-2025 season (birth years 2016-2019).

JULY 4TH WEEK SCRIMMAGES
Coach Swanny will be offering controlled scrimmages each morning over the week of July 4th. As a reminder, Director Skills sessions are OFF the week of July 4th so if you are interested in staying on the ice, this is a fun and inexpensive way to keep active! Coach Swanny will offer one scrimmage per day, starting on June 30th and running through the morning of July 3rd, for Squirts, PWs, and Bantams. The registration is NOT position specific (except for goaltenders) so first-come, first-served. Each age level will be limited to 17 skaters and 2 goalies per team, so a total of 34 skaters and 4 goalies can play. There will be moments of teaching, especially for the younger age levels, but for the most part, the kids will simply play hockey for 4 straight days! Each player is asked to bring his/her Blue (Dark) and White (Light) jerseys, and each day the kids will create their own teams (with the help of Director Swanson to keep teams even).

SUMMER SCRIMMAGES
Summer Scrimmages - June 2-July 31
NCYH is happy to offer more skating options this summer! Every Monday through Thursday from June 2nd-July 31st (Except June 30-July 3 week), age-specific scrimmages will be offered at NoCo Ice Center from 4:30-5:30PM and 5:45-6:45PM each day AFTER Director Skills. Each session will be run by an NCYH Hockey Director. Teams will be split up by the Directors...please bring a dark and light jersey to every skate. The Hockey Directors will have specific areas of emphasis at each session, dependent upon the group's age and skill level. These areas of emphasis will range from simple things like understanding the rules of the sport to higher level structural play. NCYH will TRY to schedule scrimmage sessions on opposite days of your Director Skills sessions. Please understand it may not be possible to accommodate everyone.
