U8 Summer Camp
U8 Let's Play Hockey Camp - June 13-15, 2025
NCYH is proud to offer an all-day, Under 8 Hockey Camp designed to develop basic hockey skills (skating, passing, shooting, puck handling) in a supportive, friendly environment. We will stress proper technique, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun! Coaches will use age-appropriate drills and activities to help players build confidence, improve coordination, and prepare them for growth in the game of hockey.
This camp is NOT for beginners. It is for well-behaved kids who have taken part in an Under 8 program, who can pay attention to Coaches and demonstrations, who are old enough to be active for the entire day at camp, and who can skate well without the help of another person or a balance aid. Instructors will help tie skates and buckle helmets but will not be aiding the kids in putting on their equipment, so if your child cannot put on his/her gear, a parent will need to be at the rink to help. This camp is open to kids who played Under 8 in the 2024-2025 season (birth years 2016-2019).
*If enough participants register, NCYH will split the kids into two groups based on their age and their skill level.
About
There will be a maximum of 26 skaters and 2 goalies per group, with the amount of groups (one or two) determined by registration numbers (up to 52 skaters and 4 goalies). The kids will have numerous off-ice activities, including trips to the playground next door, kickball, relay races, knee hockey, hand-eye coordination games, trivia contests, parking lot hockey, outdoor hockey shooting gallery, and water balloon competitions. The kids will also get three ice touches on Friday, three ice touches on Saturday, and two touches on Sunday, including a final full-ice game for families to enjoy! The camp will be run by the NCYH Hockey Directors, along with helpers who play Division 1 hockey at Arizona State University and University of Denver.
